ROAD TO MT. TSURUGI -Fly on the wall-

Mt. Tsurugi is said to be the most difficult mountain in Japan and is the dream destination of all hikers/climbers.
As winter approached and the mountain huts closed, I photographed a three-day, two-night tent hike through the mountains in late autumn.

Northern Alps Mt. Tsurugi 2,999m (Toyama Prefecture)

The Tateyama mountain range in late October.

We set up tents at Raichozawa Campsite, our first camp.

In the evening, the whole area was enveloped in gas and we were hit by cold rain. The temperature on the first night dropped to 1°C.

The second day's camp was Tsurugisawa Campsite. Due to the location, we thought we would be hit by a cold wind, but there was no wind that night.

As we continue walking, the rocky peak of Mt. Tsurugi finally comes into view, and our hopes of reaching the summit grow. The rugged rock surface is surely the reason why it is called a famous mountain.

Crawling along the wall, he clung desperately to it.

We descended the mountain safely and headed home.
